The Wet Paper Dress (pressed to my chest)I catch them as they fall
the little birds from her window
and they whisper rain-stained words
for me to look up, look up as more fall
the sky is filled with the paper cranes
rushing in a desperate flight
wishing through the air
on dreams and floating lanterns
and then I see her drifting
floating out the window
down to me at a speed I can't remember
and I brace to impact
but she lands safely, softly in my arms
and the raining, wishing sky looks orange to the east
where broken and blackened clouds part way
to a sunset passing a sunrise
and to that end I walk
and she cries to an exhausted sleep in my arms
and the suns are respite for my heavy heart
QuiemI may never count the stars again,
Never stare into the gaping abyss above.
We return to the ocean,
the sea foam cries out --
once mermaids,
now curling about our toes . . . .
The sunset is cold and immediate:
jarring a hapless jaw to the side,
in the moment
before the sea swallows the last light
The grass is brown, the sky is black
White feathers seep red
---
The wind is fierce, rebellious.
It is too strong.
I cannot walk forward;
I am blown back.
---
Yes,
the face of death
breathes down my neck.

Galaxy's MarrowThe world turns
Like wind-born ashes in the cosmos
Sheltering the lives from the stars
Broken planets glide
Overall in a mist of a dream,
Showering the sky with plays of light
Alone, singularly and minuscule
In the void
The sun shines
Forever
Day and night don't exist
Just light
Shadowed by our
    Selves
Vast emptiness
Suffocates aspiration
The question exists for everyone
Do we dare ask it?
Breathe in
Breathe in
Breathe in
Pull all of the air that you can.
It is yours.
Until you can no longer hold it.
This Weary Lifetouch my face
with both your hands
hold me to your breast
wrap your arms around me
and tell me i'll be fine
i'm just a babe
my fruitless tears announce it
i'm just a child
my tantrums can't deny it
hold me in your arms
and carry me to bed
press your lips
to both my temples
sing me softly, sleep

Hi!
...Aaaaaand we're back! Still!

Welcome back to another journal from your handy-dandy DeviantLITERATURE! We're so glad to have you!

This is the second prompt journal of (hopefully) many monthly journals, AND the first ever monthly prompt RESULTS journal! Are you stoked and ready? You should be! Thank you so very much to everyone who commented, favourited, shared, pimped, and contributed to our November Prompt Journal. Y'all are stunning, legit! So! Before we get to the results from last month, here is this month's prompt section!

Recap on how it goes:

Bullet; Green We'll post a prompt on the first of each month
Bullet; Green You'll write a poetry or prose piece to fit!
Bullet; Green  You'll be able to submit your pieces on said prompt to our monthly prompt folder
Bullet; Green please post your submissions in the comments, and be sure to mention DeviantLITERATURE in the author's comment of your piece!

At the end of the month, one lucky deviant who submitted a prompt will have a member feature in their very own journal post, and be featured on the group's homepage for the next month! Everyone will be featured in the next month's prompt journal.
That's it, it's that simple!
La la la la

Here are this month's prompts! You can write on one, some, or all of them!
1. Theme/Line: "Dear stranger, I no longer remember your name"
2. Idea: Write about some seasonal festivities that go wrong somehow! It doesn't have to be Christmas, you can pick any sort of holiday celebrated. This can be poetry or prose.
3. Idea: Playing Dead
4. Fixed Form: Write a kyrielle

I can't wait to see what you get written!  But anyway, without further ado, let us celebrate our very first DeviantLITERATURE Prompt Member of the Month!

her eyes, fire in mineI chase these dreams like floating embers
wishing for truth to besiege my heart
but they lose their light at the height of their journey
and I'm left staring into the lonely night
wishing for truth to besiege my heart,
I find myself poring over every letter she wrote
and I'm left staring into the lonely night
fixated on nothing but my empty heart
I find myself poring over every letter she wrote
but the words are lost behind my tears
fixated on nothing but my empty heart
and she is leaving every time I close my eyes
but her words are lost behind my tears
and I chase these dreams like floating embers
grabbing hold of my withered heart
and losing the light at the end of my journey.
the enchantergreat strands of purple light
flowed from his mouth and ears
and flowered from his eyes
as he whispered and murmured
words that gave her heart wings
his fingers trailed her trembling skin
and she could see naught but his words
taking shape behind her eyes
and creeping, crawling into her mind
she struggled for just a moment
as the fish hooks latched to her joints,
then she was his
and he smiled of death
and the butterflies became filthy moths
enchanted by his glowing eyes
she caught fire and screamed
while ashes poured from her mouth and ears
and flowered from her eyes
and they whispered and murmured
as they wafted to the ground.
He is Like a Mountainhe is like a mountain
rising above the rest
formed by the conflict
of tectonic birth
he is like a mountain
eroding above the rest
carved away by the rivers
of trial and despair
he is like a mountain
with huts for weary travelers
built up by the love and care
of his patient heart
he is like a mountain
boiling deep inside
a dormant volcano stoked by the loneliness
of his selfish desires
he is like a mountain
as patient as his age
and as others die around him
he slowly wastes away.
  Train Tracksthe smell of pitch
sings in my nose like
a hissing behemoth
the gravel is poured
and piled and gorged
through the heart
of the pinewood forest
building and building and
clashing and crashing with
hammer on spike and a
rail on the pike
like a train on the track
it is picking up slack
and the boiler is boiling
on the way to the station
it churns and it burns
and the passengers turn to see
the tracks are not done
and the end had begun.

Ian wrote pieces for all four of our prompts for this month, an incredible attempt! He is a vivid, kind, and present member of the deviantart literature community, always ready with a compliment or feedback. This month Ian will be featured in our brand spanking new Member of the Month area! Go and check it out on our front page.

We had a number of really great contributions to our prompt folder this month, too! Thank you all for submitting your work to the group! Take a look at all of the wonderful submissions here:
He Is Like A Mountain     My eyes sting a bit as soon as I pass the gate with the black vertical iron bars and the two grim-looking gargoyles who are staring at the people and cars crowded outside the gates, like watchful guards of the territory. Not that this place needs any guarding, since its residents aren't going to go anywhere anymore. The gargoyles are dirty and some parts of their stone body are coated in mold, mud, graffiti paint and bird excrement. I never understood what kind of purpose these things served, why they could be found in most cemeteries. Someone had once told me that they protect the ones resting there from evil spirits and scare away evil-meaning intruders. But, judging by the black- and gray-feathered birds sitting leisurely on their shoulders, it's quite possible that nowadays they only scare old people.
Everything around me shouts “gloom” as I walk down the path, the heels of my shoes clacking against the old stone pavemen
  Pantoum Study: Be Strongi.
    Though she stands alone,
    tears are streaming now.
    Words cannot soothe her,
    her heart is calling out.

ii.
    Tears are streaming, now
    unable to find restraint.
    Her heart is calling out
    for one less tear shed.

iii.
    Unable to find restraint
she seeks a hand to hold
    For one less tear shed,
    her heart must be strong.

iv.
She seeks a hand to hold
    though she stands alone.
    Her heart must be strong;
    words cannot soothe her.
A Panting Pantoumheartbeats thrum in throats
silent moments tick

silent moments tick
buoyant hearts, they swell

bound within this spell
buoyant hearts, they swell
dawn breaks halcyon haze
bound within this spell
caught within your gaze

Sirenshe moves like whispers on the wind
tiptoe through her house of glass
soft-footed, fragile, limber-limbed
step outside through crystal grass
tiptoe through her house of glass
be careful where you tread
step outside through crystal grass
where fragile soft feet bled
be careful where you tread
missteps will send you crashing
where fragile soft feet bled
and tender hearts die smashing
missteps will send you crashing

and tender hearts die smashing
she moves like whispers on the wind

I found the body, both pieces anyway,
Down the old rail station way, where
The tracks don't work at the crossroads
Anymore. All I can say is, its a puzzle.

The train don't run, twenty years, not
Anymore. All I can say is, its a puzzle.
Aint no enchanter got me, can touch it.
The train don't run, twenty years, not
Like it coulda up & split this man in two.
Aint no enchanter got me, can touch it.
He is like a mountain, massive & stark.

I found the body, both pieces anyway,

The tracks don't work at the crossroads.

Heart Like a Mountainbroken hearts upon crags of old
tears run like a fountain
his heart an avalanche, stone cold
as the crest of mountains
tears run like a fountain
parted by this great divide
as the crest of mountains
leaves no place to hide

cowering from constant bombardment
leaves no place to hide
plummeting from high escarpments
cowering from constant bombardment
broken hearts upon crags of old
plummeting from high escarpments
his heart an avalanche, stone cold
